How to Stay Healthy During the Holidays

The holiday season is the most joyous time of the year! However, it also tends to be the busiest. It can be easy to lose sight of your fitness goal when you’re shopping for presents, inviting family over, and planning out meals.  Sometimes it might seem like there’s just not enough time to go to the gym.

In addition, holiday meals alone can impact your fitness progress and current workout regime.  In an article written last year, it was concluded that people consume about 3,000 calories in one meal on Thanksgiving. That’s more than the recommended calorie intake a day for most people!

Luckily, Dynamic Fitness has come up with some great tips for staying in shape and keeping healthy this winter. We understand that can be tempting to cut down on working out even before Thanksgiving arrives. Instead of making your New Year’s resolution to get in shape, stay determined to continue your current fitness habits throughout this holiday season.

Work Out with a Partner: Going to the gym with a friend or family member can really push you to work out regularly. If you’re having people stay over for the holidays, don’t let that deter you from coming to Dynamic Fitness. Instead, invite them to work out with you at one of our locations! Exercising with friends or family is a fun experience that will give you the motivation you need.

Eat Healthy: By cooking healthy recipes and eating in moderation, you can still enjoy delicious holiday meals with zero guilt. It can also be tempting to indulge and overeat, especially on Thanksgiving. Instead, eat smaller portions so you can enjoy all of the different types of food you’ve cooked for the holiday. It’s also important to remember not to overeat because you can always have leftovers.

Stay Active Whenever You Can: Although the holidays bring a relaxing lull, don’t forget that working out for at least 15 minutes a day will keep you feeling great. Don’t just quit exercising despite how busy the holiday season can be; that can make it harder to start back up again.  Plus, keeping active for a small amount a day can even help reduce stress that’s associated with the holidays. Dynamic Fitness has convenient hours to meet all of your exercise needs during this busy season.

Sign up for a Class: For extra motivation, a scheduled, weekly class can really help. Dynamic Fitness has a wide selection of classes, ranging from yoga to BodyPump. This kind of commitment will not only drive you to be in better shape, but you’ll have a great and memorable time working with our instructors.

Work towards Goals: Make your own fitness goals to meet during the holiday season! Even just a small one, such as doing pushups every day, is enough to put you on the right path to stay in shape. You’ll feel rewarded with complete satisfaction when you accomplish the fitness challenges you set for yourself.

Don’t simply wait to join everyone else at Dynamic Fitness after New Year’s – take this opportunity to get started on your New Year’s resolution NOW! Look, feel, and be dynamic during the holidays! Dynamic Fitness offers four convenient locations, as well as many different types of memberships and amenities, so you’ll find everything you need from a gym.
